Button had been slightly apprehensive ever since we mentioned about going to the dentist. However, as our week of learning about teeth went on, Button became less concerned (knowledge is power) and was almost excited (possibly because Grandad was taking us).
Button was a really good girl in the waiting room, exploring and making friends with the other patients. There were clearly a few nerves but she was still confident enough to go in when it was our turn and chat with the dentist. We had travelled to Hoo and Grandad's dentist because I knew how calm it was there and how nice Tinna was. The extra effort was instantly validated by Tinna's engagement with Button. She was friendly, fun and informative and Button loved it. The moving chair and the stickers that the dentist and receptionist gave out were winners with Button who happily sat as the Dentist counted her teeth.
An experience that has negative connotations for so many proved a great success. Even Mum, who is one of the many with negative emotions towards dentists, found the experience calming and almost enjoyable.
The success was further highlighted over the next few days by Button's frequent requests to go again and her wishes to be 4 so that it is time to go again!
